5/5 stars!!
A Wonderful conclusion to an already brilliant trilogy.
When I started this book I didn't think it could get much better than the first two books but this was defiantly an occasion when I was happy to be wrong. The ending was definitely not what I expected at the beginning of the book. I read this book a few weeks ago and I still can't decide if I like the ending as it feels like a bit of a lack of climax but equally I was happy that the characters each got the ending that they deserved. I won't say much more than that because I don't want to spoil the epic plot twists in the stories of each of the characters.
The additional characters of Eliza and Scarab that are introduced in this book really added to the overall plot but I still missed some of the characters from the first two books in the trilogy. Out of the two, I especially liked the character of Eliza as I felt that she represented the 'normal' humans really well in the beginning.
As usual, this book is a masterclass. throughout the book, Tayor uses multiple perspectives but it really adds to the plot as you see the humans through Eliza's eyes and you can contrast them with the atrocities of the seraphim through Razgot's perspective. Karou's perspective, however, is as you would expect, the main perspective in the novel. The true mastery in the writing of this books is shown when Taylor merge the various perspectives together seamlessly whilst also managing all the high fantasy elements.
I would defiantly say that this final book focuses mainly on the high fantasy world that Taylor had set up in the first two books. I really appreciated this as you could see the growth in Taylor's writing style through the world building. She finally explored some of the finer points of the magic system that I had been questioning in the initial books which I was ecstatic about. However, even though she does increase the complexity of the magic system in this book it is very easy to understand.
I would defiantly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in reading high fantasy as the split between our world and Eritz would ease the transition from reading more Urban Fantasy books to High Fantasy.

P.S: Sorry for the wait on this review I have had a mountain of work to do for school. I'm planning on doing more reviews over the next few days about books I have read recently to catch up. But, if you want to be kept more up to date with my reading use the link to my Goodreads page in the description.
